The price to take flight
Becoming an airline pilot is a profession that has always been a dream through the ages.
It is a demanding profession that requires numerous technical and personal skills, and above all, an obvious passion for aviation.
To access the position of airline pilot, there are different routes, some more selective and paid, others free.

Free options
- The Air Force: your training will be fully funded, you will be either a fighter pilot or a transport pilot. A military pilot can then retrain in the civilian sector at the end of their service.
- ENAC: the training is funded; only ancillary costs such as tuition fees need to be paid. But this is really nothing compared to the total cost of the training.
- Air France Cadets: this is not entirely free because in most criteria, theoretical ATPL and PPL are required. However, the practical part is funded, and a job is guaranteed at the end of the training.

The paid option
The last route is private schools, which are fee-based. Entry is less selective, and some do not require any diploma to access.
But this comes at a high cost, averaging 90,000 euros in France.
As you will have understood, ATPL is expensive, so you need to think carefully before embarking on this training.
